Connected Assistants
Ask your AI assistant about your inventory.
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Viktor or another AI assistant you already use, then ask “what do I need to reorder this week?” and get the answer from your live numbers. Read-only, no API keys, and included on every plan.
Bring the assistant you already use.
We didn’t build an assistant. Carpe Inventory IQ is a remote MCP server, the standard way assistants connect to outside data, so yours can read your inventory directly.
Claude
Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
ChatGPT
Add it as a custom connector. On business plans, a workspace admin may need to allow custom connectors first.
Codex
In the desktop app: Settings → Plugins → MCPs → Add → Add MCP server, choose Streamable HTTP, then Authenticate.
Viktor
Add it as a custom integration, then ask from Slack or Microsoft Teams.
Any other assistant
Anything that supports custom connectors, sometimes called integrations, apps or MCP servers.
What you can ask
Your assistant can reach six parts of your account. Ask in plain words; it works out which to look at.
Stock by location
On hand in each of your locations, units at Amazon FBA/AWD and Walmart WFS listed separately, quantity on order, and how many kits you could build from components.
- “How many WIDGET-100 do we have, and where?”
- “How much GADGET-200 is at Amazon FBA versus our own warehouse?”
- “How many gift sets could we build from the components on hand?”
Sales velocity
Units per day over 30, 60, 90 or 180 days, across every channel, and days of cover at that pace.
- “How many days of cover do we have on GADGET-200?”
- “Is WIDGET-100 selling faster over the last 30 days than the last 90?”
Reorder suggestions
The same list as your Reorder Suggestions page: urgency, days until stockout, suggested order quantity, lead time and supplier.
- “What do I need to reorder from Acme Supply this week?”
- “Which SKUs are critical right now, and how many should I order?”
Reports
Inventory valuation (overall and by location), COGS by channel, inventory adjustments, the Activity Ledger, BOM production, ABC analysis, MOQ excess, lot expiry and accounts payable.
- “What was our inventory worth by location on June 30?”
- “What were COGS by channel last month?”
- “Which lots expire in the next 60 days?”
Open purchase orders
Everything not yet fully received, soonest expected first, with ordered, received and outstanding quantities.
- “What is still outstanding from Northwind Packaging, and when is it due?”
- “Is PART-300 on any open purchase order?”
Account alerts
Anything on your account that needs attention, such as a channel that needs reconnecting, with what to do about it.
- “Is anything on my account that needs attention?”
- “Do any of my channels need reconnecting?”
It can combine them, too.
“Which fast-moving SKUs have under two weeks of cover and nothing on order?”
One question, answered from velocity, stock and open purchase orders together.
Four steps to connect.
The connector address:
https://app.carpeinventory.com/api/mcpAdd Carpe Inventory IQ as a custom connector
Paste the connector address into your assistant. It is also under Settings → Connected Assistants, with a Copy button.
Sign in with your Carpe Inventory IQ login
Your assistant opens our sign-in page. Use your usual email and password. There is no API key to create, copy or store.
Approve on our screen
The approval screen names the store, lists what the assistant will be able to see, and shows the address you'll return to. Check that it's the assistant you're using, then click Allow.
Ask your question
You land back in your assistant, connected. Ask in your own words; it looks up the answer in your live data.
You stay in control.
Read-only
An assistant can look things up. It cannot adjust stock, edit SKUs, create purchase orders or change settings. Making changes, with a preview you approve first, is planned.
Only what your role can see
The assistant sees what the person who connected it can see. If your role can't view costs, the assistant gets no costs, values or cost reports either.
One store per connection
A connection reads only the store named on the approval screen. Never another store, even if your login belongs to several.
Disconnect anytime
Settings → Connected Assistants → Disconnect, and it stops immediately. A password reset, or deactivating a team member, disconnects their assistants too.
No API keys
Assistants connect by signing in and asking your permission. Nothing to generate, paste into a config file, or rotate.
You decide where your data goes
What an assistant reads is sent to the company that runs it, such as Anthropic for Claude or OpenAI for ChatGPT. That can include costs, supplier pricing and bills of materials.
Stop digging for the number.
