Built specifically for Finale’s export files
Most inventory systems hand you a generic CSV template and wish you luck. Carpe Inventory IQ was created by a Finale Inventory expert, so the importer speaks Finale natively — product lookups, packing numbers, grouped BOM exports and all. You do the uploading; the importer does the rebuilding.
- Marketplace product lookups become SKU aliases and channel links
- Packing numbers become case packs, modeled as bills of materials
- Amazon barcodes attach automatically
- Bills of materials come across from Finale’s grouped BOM export
- Raw materials and components land as the right item types

How migration works, step by step
- 1
Export from Finale Inventory
Pull the files Finale already produces: your product list, your Product Lookups export, and the grouped bill-of-materials export. No reformatting — the importer reads them as-is.
- 2
Connect your store
Connect Shopify or BigCommerce and your storefront products sync in automatically — most merchants never upload a product file at all. Marketplace connections (Amazon, eBay, Walmart) start in Read-Only mode, so nothing pushes anywhere until you say so.
- 3
Run the Migration Wizard
One page, up to four step cards: Products (raw materials and components), Bills of Materials (optional), Product Lookups, and Attach Shopify IDs. Each step takes one Finale export file, runs on its own, and reports a plain-English result. Any step can be re-run later without redoing the rest.
- 4
Run in parallel with Finale
Keep Finale live while Carpe Inventory IQ runs in Read-Only mode. Watch real orders flow in, compare counts between the two systems, and verify your BOMs and aliases. One to two weeks is typical — there is no rush.
- 5
Go live, one channel at a time
Turn off Finale’s inventory pushes for your lowest-volume channel, flip that channel to Full Sync in Carpe Inventory IQ, and confirm. Repeat per channel at your own pace. Any channel can go back to Read-Only instantly.
Total migration time: 1–3 weeks at a comfortable pace — most of it the parallel-run period where both systems operate side by side.
Zero-risk by design
- Importing reads your export files — it changes nothing inside your Finale account.
- Nothing pushes to your marketplaces until you flip a channel from Read-Only to Full Sync.
- Any channel can go back to Read-Only instantly. No data lost, no damage done.
The full parallel-run playbook lives on How to Switch.

Created by a Finale Inventory expert
Carpe Inventory IQ is the brainchild of Jeremy Roberts, who spent years running a multichannel beauty brand with Finale Inventory — product lookups, raw materials, bills of materials, purchase orders, and more. That firsthand experience is baked into the Migration Wizard: it reads the exact files Finale exports and rebuilds your catalog here automatically — no reformatting, no mapping by hand.
Finale migration questions, answered
How do I export my data from Finale Inventory?
Finale Inventory natively exports everything the Migration Wizard needs: your product list, your Product Lookups export, and the grouped bill-of-materials export. You upload those files as-is — no reformatting, no manual column mapping. If you have trouble finding an export, Finale’s support team can point you to it by name.
What Finale data does the importer rebuild?
Your catalog (including raw materials and components), your marketplace product lookups (which become SKU aliases and channel links), your case packs (lookups with packing numbers, rebuilt as bills of materials), your Amazon barcodes, and your bills of materials.
Is Carpe Inventory IQ a good Finale Inventory alternative for Shopify merchants?
We believe so — Carpe Inventory IQ is a native Shopify app, so your storefront products sync in automatically. Most Shopify merchants skip uploading their product file entirely and only import raw materials, lookups, and BOMs from Finale.
How long does migration take?
Most merchants complete the switch in one to three weeks at a comfortable pace. The bulk of that is the recommended parallel-run period, where Carpe Inventory IQ runs in Read-Only mode alongside Finale while you compare counts. The imports themselves are a matter of uploading a few files.
Will I lose my history?
Your Finale account is untouched — the importer reads export files and changes nothing in Finale, so your records stay there for as long as you keep the account. Sales history imports into Carpe Inventory IQ directly from your connected channels in the background.
Do I have to migrate everything at once?
No. Each importer step runs on its own and can be re-run any time. A common path: connect Shopify or BigCommerce first, import lookups and BOMs, then connect Amazon or eBay later and re-run the Product Lookups step to bind those marketplace links.
What happens to my case packs — lookups with packing numbers?
They come across automatically. Lookups that carry a packing number become case packs, modeled as a bill of materials: a 12-pack sale takes 12 pieces off the piece, and cost flows down from the piece, exactly as in Finale. Pack items stay off your main SKU list and out of reorder suggestions, so day to day you still work in pieces.
