How it actually works — step by step
Install the Shopify app
This is your account. No separate signup, no extra credentials. Your Shopify store connects and your products, variants, and inventory levels start importing automatically.
Import your sales history
Pull in up to two years of order data from Shopify and Amazon, and up to 180 days from Walmart. This powers velocity analysis and reorder suggestions from day one — no waiting months to accumulate data.
Import your raw materials, BOMs, aliases, and suppliers
Export from your current system (Finale, spreadsheets, wherever). Import into Carpe Inventory IQ via CSV. Bulk workflows — you’re not clicking through hundreds of SKUs one at a time.
Connect your other marketplaces
Amazon, Walmart — each connects in Read-Only mode. Carpe Inventory IQ starts reading your orders and inventory but doesn’t push anything back. Your current IMS stays in control.
Verify your data
Watch real orders flow in. Compare counts between Carpe Inventory IQ and your current system. Check SKU mappings, BOM structures, and inventory levels. Verify your data migration is accurate before flipping any channel to Full Sync. Take your time — there’s no rush.
Configure your safety features
Set up Inventory Reserve (overselling protection buffer) and Dynamic Cloak™ (competitive intelligence protection) for each marketplace. Get these right before you go live.
Disable your old IMS for one channel
Start with your lowest-volume marketplace. Turn off inventory pushes from Finale (or whatever you’re using) for just that one channel.
Go live — one channel at a time
Flip that channel from Read-Only to Full Sync in Carpe Inventory IQ. You’ll confirm three things: your old system is disconnected, your counts are accurate, and you accept Carpe Inventory IQ as the source of truth for that channel. Then repeat for each marketplace at your own pace.
Total migration time: 1–3 weeks at a comfortable pace. Most of that is the verification period where both systems run in parallel.
What if something goes wrong?
